macOS: Is ARKit-equivalent face tracking possible with an external camera?
Hello, I am an individual developer working on a macOS application using SwiftUI and RealityKit. I would like to understand the feasibility of face-related tracking on macOS when using an external USB camera, compared to iOS/iPadOS. Specifically: • Does macOS provide an ARKit Face Tracking–equivalent API (e.g., real-time facial expressions, gaze direction, depth)? • If not, is it common to rely on Vision / AVFoundation as alternatives for: • Facial expression coefficients • Gaze estimation • Depth approximation • In an environment without dedicated sensors such as TrueDepth, is it correct to assume that accurate depth data and high-fidelity blend shape extraction are realistically difficult? Any clarification on official limitations, recommended alternatives, or relevant documentation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

NSItemProvider.registeredTypeIdentifiers(fileOptions: [.openInPlace]) is empty until performDrop
I am building an app for iOS and MacCatalyst that indexes files by storing their local paths. Because the app relies on the file remaining at its original location, I only want to accept items that can be opened in place. I am struggling to determine if an item is "Open In Place" compatible early in the drag-and-drop lifecycle. Specifically: In dropInteraction(_:canHandle:) and dropInteraction(_:sessionDidUpdate:), calling itemProvider.registeredTypeIdentifiers(fileOptions: [.openInPlace]) returns an empty array. Only once the drop is actually committed in dropInteraction(_:performDrop:) does that same call return the expected type identifiers. This creates a poor user experience. I want to validate the "In Place" capability at the very start of the session so the drop target only activates for valid files. If an item is ephemeral (like a dragged photo from the Photos app or a temporary export), the drop zone should not react at all. How can I reliably detect if an NSItemProvider supports .openInPlace before the performDrop delegate method is called?

The best way to build, test and upload an iOS app without owning a Mac
Hi everyone, I’m developing a cross-platform mobile app (React Native) but I don’t currently own a Mac. What is the most reliable and professional way to: Build the iOS version Test it properly (real device / TestFlight) Upload it to the App Store Are cloud Mac services (like MacinCloud, AWS Mac, etc.) considered stable for production release workflows? Is there any fully supported workflow without direct access to a physical Mac? Would appreciate real-world experience from developers who faced the same situation. Thanks in advance.

Tensorflow metal: Issue using assign operation on MacBook M4

Apple Ads Account “No Longer Authorized” – Ads Still Running & Unable to Contact Support
Hello, I’m looking for assistance regarding my Apple Ads account. When I try to log in, I receive the following message: “This Apple Account is no longer authorized for Apple Ads. If you believe that this is an error, please contact us.” When I click “Contact us,” I am redirected back to the same message and cannot submit a support request. I have not received any email explaining this restriction. At the same time, my ads appear to still be running, as I am seeing new users coming into my app. Since I cannot access the account, I currently have no visibility or control over active campaigns and potential ongoing spend. I would appreciate guidance on how to resolve this or how to directly contact Apple Ads support, as I am unable to reach them through the platform. Thank you for your help.

String Catalog Symbols: No Reference-Language Fallback for Partially Translated Locales
I'm having troubles converting my string catalog to symbols because for partly translated languages there is no fallback to the reference language. Let me give you an example. Example Assume an app that supports two languages: English and Japanese. The app is very simple and has only two strings, using symbols in a String Catalog: Key: .helloWorld → “Hello World!” Key: .info → “Information” Case 1: No Japanese translations If I launch the app in Japanese and neither string is translated, English is used as a fallback. The UI shows: “Hello World!” “Information” This is exactly what I would expect. Case 2: Only one string translated Now assume I translate only one string into Japanese: .helloWorld → “こんにちは世界” When I launch the app in Japanese now: .helloWorld correctly shows “こんにちは世界” .info shows info, not “Information” So instead of falling back to English, the key is displayed. This issue does not pop up when I don't use symbols. Because then, my SwiftUI Text elements contain the English ideal text as a (kind of) key. I assume for commercial apps all strings are always translated into all supported languages. But this is not the case for apps where translations happens through crowd translations. Check the following link. There you will see that only English (reference language) and German (my native language) are 100% translated. In "Learning Programming 2", I can't use "world.place"
I'm trying the "Connect and Solve" course of Swift Playground. I can't use "world.place" to place bricks at positions (2, 2), (6, 2) (automatically disappear), but I can place bricks at positions (4, 2) in the same way. Two bricks must be placed overlapping in positions (2, 2) and (6, 2) to achieve the goal. Only when a brick is placed in position (4, 2) can the goal be achieved. The problem is that the bricks placed on (6, 2) and (2, 2) will disappear and cannot be placed successfully. ASWebAuthenticationSessionWebBrowserSessionHandling begin callback not called for custom web handler app
I'm building a macOS app that registers itself for HTTP(S) url handling and would like it to participate in the ASWebAuthenticationSession fow. I did: update the plist to register as a handler for URL shemes (http, https, file) use NSWorkspace setDefaultApplication API to set this app as a default handler for urls in question wrote custom ASWebAuthenticationSessionWebBrowserSessionHandling implementation and set it as SessionManager's sessionHandler I launched this app from Xcode, then I triggered authentication flow from a third-party app. When the sign in flow is initiated, I can see that my app is activeated (willBecomeActive and didBecomeActive callbacks are both called), but there is no call for sessionHandler's begin() method. With some additional debugging I see that my app receives an apple event when the flow is started: {sfri,auth target=SafariLaunchAgent {qntp=90/$627......},aapd=TRUE If I switch system default browser back to Safari and then start the login flow, it correctly displays a sign in web page. What do I miss? PS. I'm on Tahoe 26.2

DUNS Number Mismatch
I am trying to create a developer account for my organization. I have validated our DUNS number and Entity Name on https://developer.apple.com/enroll/duns-lookup/. However, when I try to add this number to create a developer account, I get a pop-up suggesting a mismatch in the entity and DUNS number. I have tried this several times without any success. Cloud signing: Validation failed (409) Invalid Signature. Code failed to satisfy specified code requirement(s)
I'm attempting to use Cloud Signing to export the Release version of 3 different apps for App Store, as described in https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2021/10204/ The process completes successfully, and appears to be signed correctly, with a newly-created certificate in the developer portal of type "Distribution Managed". When I upload to App Store Connect however, I see the following error for several third-party Swift packages, distributed as frameworks: Validation failed (409) Invalid Signature. Code failed to satisfy specified code requirement(s). The file at path “MyApp.app/Frameworks/MyFramework.framework/MyFramework” is not properly signed. Make sure you have signed your application with a distribution certificate, not an ad hoc certificate or a development certificate. Verify that the code signing settings in Xcode are correct at the target level (which override any values at the project level). Additionally, make sure the bundle you are uploading was built using a Release target in Xcode, not a Simulator target. If you are certain your code signing settings are correct, choose “Clean All” in Xcode, delete the “build” directory in the Finder, and rebuild your release target. For more information, please consult https://developer.apple.com/support/code-signing. If I have a manually created Distribution certificate installed in the keychain at the point of export, the same archive is signed with that certificate, and is accepted by App Store Connect without issue. Unable to Change Primary Locale for 4–6 Year Old Live App – “Missing Screenshots” Error Despite All Assets Uploaded
Hi everyone, We’re facing an issue while trying to change the Primary Language / Primary Locale of a long-standing live iOS app in App Store Connect. The app has been live for 4–6+ years. When attempting to update the Primary Locale from App Information, we receive the following error: “Primary Locale couldn’t be saved because you must first provide all the required screenshots for each version in this language.” However: The target localization (English – UK) already exists. All required screenshot sets are uploaded. No screenshot sections are blank (iPhone and iPad – all visible display sizes). Both the live version and the version in review contain complete screenshot sets. No Apple Watch or iMessage extensions are currently included in the build. A clean build has been uploaded and selected. Removing the version from review does not resolve the issue. There are no visible validation errors in the UI. This appears to be either: A hidden backend validation requirement, A legacy platform association, Or a Primary Locale lock tied to the app’s original configuration. Has anyone successfully changed the Primary Locale for an older live app recently? Is there a known limitation for apps created several years ago? Would appreciate any insight before escalating further. Thanks in advance.

.edgesIgnoringSafeArea(.vertical) combined with .tabViewStyle(.page(indexDisplayMode: .never)) causes "Out of Bounds" layout in Xcode 26 / iOS 26 SDK
I am reporting a regression/behavioral change in the SwiftUI layout engine when building with Xcode 26 (iOS 26 SDK). In previous versions (Xcode 15/16 and iOS 17/18 SDKs), a TabView using .tabViewStyle(.page(indexDisplayMode: .never)) correctly respected the coordinate space when combined with .edgesIgnoringSafeArea(.vertical). However, when compiling with the iOS 26 SDK, the internal views of the TabView render "out of bounds," pushing content vertically beyond the intended safe area boundaries and causing UI overlapping/clipping - an abnormal behavior. MLX/Ollama Benchmarking Suite - Open Source and Free
Hi all, I spent the last few months developing an MLX/Ollama local AI Benchmarking suite for Apple Silicon, written in pure Swift and signed with an Apple Developer Certificate, open source, GPL, and free. I would love some feedback to continue development. It is the only benchmarking suite I know of that supports live power metrics and MLX natively, as well as quick exports for benchmark results, and an arena mode, Model A vs B with history. Developer Program Renewal Button Missing - Cannot Renew Membership
I am unable to renew my Apple Developer Program membership because the renewal button is completely missing from every platform and location where I've looked: Apple Developer website Apple Developer app on iPhone Apple Developer app on Mac Subscriptions settings I have attempted multiple troubleshooting steps without success: Tried multiple devices Tested different browsers Cleared cache and cookies Signed out and back in Attempted private browsing mode The renewal button simply does not appear anywhere. Why This Cannot Be Self-Resolved: The self-service renewal system is broken or inaccessible Phone support is not available in my country Previous support emails have gone unanswered There is no alternative path forward available to me Impact: My apps are offline or at risk of removal I am losing users and revenue daily My membership is about to expire, making my development account inactive Important Context: This appears to be a widespread issue affecting developers globally, as documented across Reddit and Apple developer forums. Other developers who have access to phone support report the issue is resolved in under 15 minutes. However, that option does not exist for me due to regional limitations. I need assistance with a manual renewal process. This ticket requires escalation, as self-service options are completely unavailable to me. All notarization submissions stuck "In Progress" — first-time notarization, 9 submissions over 16+ hours

I fixed the build configuration and confirmed flags=0x10000(runtime) is present on all subsequent builds. However, every submission after that fix has been stuck at "In Progress" with no state transition. What I've tried Submitting both .dmg and .zip formats — same result Verified notarytool log — returns "Submission log is not yet available" for all stuck submissions Apple Developer System Status page shows the Notary Service as "Available" I've also emailed Apple Developer Support but have not received a response yet Questions Is this the expected behavior for a first-time notarization account? I've seen other threads mentioning that new accounts may be held for "in-depth analysis," but 16+ hours with zero feedback seems excessive. 2. Is there any manual configuration Apple needs to do on their end to unblock my team for notarization? 3. Should I stop submitting and wait, or is there something else I can try? Any guidance from DTS would be greatly appreciated. This is blocking the release of my app.

UK TAX INFO - alternative terms addendum - showing under tax forms with no visible agreement
Hello everyone, I’m facing a confusing issue in App Store Connect and hoping someone here has encountered this before. Context: • Company developer account (UK-based) • App is free to download • Only optional In-App Purchases (Apple IAP) • No external payments • Using standard App Store distribution • Paid Apps agreement is active • US tax forms (W-8BEN-E) are active Issue: Under Agreements → Tax Forms, I see: United Kingdom Tax Info – Alternative Terms Addendum – Missing Tax Info However: • There is no Alternative Terms Addendum visible under Agreements • I have not intentionally opted into EU DMA Alternative Terms • I do not have a UK VAT number (Apple should be Merchant of Record under standard IAP) Finance Support says they do not support Alternative Terms. Agreements support has not responded yet. Questions: 1. Can the Alternative Terms flag exist only under Tax Forms without a visible agreement? 2. How can a developer revert back to standard App Store terms if this happens? 3. Has anyone had Apple remove this EU DMA backend flag manually? Any guidance or similar experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance

launchd StartCalendarInterval behavior changed
Hello! I've been successfully using StartCalendarInterval in Launch[Agent|Daemon] *.plists for years. You know the deal: Mac is sleeping when CalendarInterval passes, then launchd runs the job when Mac is awoken. (This behavior is described at the bottom of an Apple doc from 2016 -- exactly how it worked before!) Recently, behavior has changed: with the computer asleep, when the date/time of the CalendarInterval passes, macOS runs the job! Even when "sleeping". However, it gets stranger: macOS will start a job when sleeping, but then suspend it in the middle. I wrote a timestamped log to check this behavior: I see job start, pause in the middle, then resume hours later when a user wakes the computer. This all makes me think that "sleep" on macOS in the past few years is now defined differently -- perhaps an Apple Silicon change? But I can't find documentation that covers this. Buried in a WWDC video, maybe? Has anyone else seen this change in launchctl calendar scheduled jobs?
