Tab Bar Transparency Problem on iOS 26
i have programmed a website and struggle to get it to work on safari ios26. 100vh fixed positioned images do not fill the screen anymore. i could live with that, having two background coloured spaces at the top and at the bottom. but elements that scroll out of this new viewport are fully visible, as you can see on the enclosed screenshots. i have no idea how i could fix this and dont find any answer anywhere on the net?

Suggestions for OAuth2 in Swift
Hello! I have a few questions about integrating an OAuth2 API into my Swift application. I am using this API to access user data from the website (users will authenticate themselves within the app). I have seen other apps use this API in the way that I am describing it so I know that it is possible. However, I am not sure how to implement it. Are there any recommended ways to use an OAuth2 API in my application? The API that I am using does not specifically say that it supports PKCE. However, I have heard from some sources that it does. If it does not support PKCE, how do I still create a secure app infrastructure that will pass App Store Review? At a more basic level, what is the difference between OAuth2 and PKCE? What should I use in my app? Are there any resources to learn a little bit more about these protocols so that I understand them better? Thanks!

This is generated in the onvalidatemerchant event handler, and passed into session.completeMerchantValidation. Using a sandbox account with linked cards, the next thing that happens is a "payment not completed" message in the ApplePay popup on the page, and the oncancel event is hit Inspecting the event, I don't see anything that hints at the issue. There is a sessionError object, but its code is "unknown" and the info object is empty.

Safari Extension: Cookie Header Missing in Background Fetch from Non-Default User Profile (Works in Default Profile)
When our Safari Web Extension makes a api request from its background script (registered via "scripts" in manifest.json, e.g., "background": { "scripts": ["js/background.bundle.js"] }) to our authenticated API endpoint (https://api-domain/user), the Cookie header is not included in the request. This occurs only when the extension is running within a non-default Safari User Profile. This causes our API to treat the user as unauthenticated. The exact same extension code, manifest, and API call work correctly (Cookie header is present and user is authenticated) when the extension is running in the Default Safari User Profile.

Declarative Web Push
Anybody succeeded sending a Web Push Message using the new Declarative approach introduced with Safari Version 18.4 (20621.1.14.11.3)? I will help as well if someone can point me to a solution debugging the entire system using Xcode and Minibrowser? Currently I can't get the MiniBrowser connected to the WebPush Daemon.

Is the branded email feature available in France? What is the timeline?
Hello, I followed the instructions to set up a custom logo for our domain name Allogarage.fr, both for the brand and the domain. Everything appears to be correctly configured in Apple Business backend for several weeks now, but the logo still doesn’t show up in Mail. Is the branded email feature available in France? Are there any additional steps required?

Why does NSURLSession with Multipath entitlement seamlessly switch to cellular when on a hardware Wi-Fi with no internet, but WKWebView does not?
正文:大家好, 当设备连接到没有互联网的 Wi-Fi SSID(例如,硬件设备的 AP)时,我看到 NSURLSession(multipathServiceType = NSURLSessionMultipathServiceTypeInteractive)和 WKWebView 之间的行为存在令人费解的差异。 网络路径监控逻辑: 我使用 C API nw_path_monitor来监视nw_path_status_satisfied。

Repeated Camera Permission Prompts in Web App on Safari (iOS)
Hi everyone, We're building a web application using Next.js that captures around 40 images across different routes as part of a guided user flow. At the beginning of the process, we explicitly request camera permission using navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia(...), and the user grants it successfully. However, as users proceed through the flow (navigating between routes), Safari on iOS intermittently re-prompts for camera access—despite the initial permission already being granted and the origin (domain) remaining unchanged. This repeated prompting interrupts the user experience significantly. What we’ve tried: Ensuring camera access is requested only once and reused where possible. Using persistent media stream across routes (where feasible). Testing across different iOS versions to confirm consistency. Questions: Is there a known workaround or best practice to persist camera access across route transitions in a SPA/PWA context on iOS? Are there any Safari-specific behaviors or restrictions related to WebRTC / getUserMedia we should be aware of? Would embedding the camera view in an iframe or maintaining a persistent component help avoid re-prompting? Any guidance or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Safari falsely flags our secure site (outdoorgala.com) as deceptive — how to request a review
Hi Apple Devs & WebKit Team, We operate https://outdoorgala.com — a verified, HTTPS-secure Canadian ecommerce site focused on elite outdoor safety gear. We're Indigenous-owned, based in Alberta, and take customer trust and compliance seriously. However, Safari (iOS + macOS) is falsely flagging our site as “deceptive,” preventing customers from accessing us — even though: We use GoDaddy Website Builder with no redirections or malware All product links are clean, HTTPS-secure, and tracked ethically We recently implemented a fully compliant cookie banner (Accept/Decline logic) A public security.txt and OpenPGP key has been published: https://outdoorgala.com/security No phishing, malware, or cloaking behavior exists on the site We’ve already submitted a review via: ➡️ https://websitereview.apple.com And filed a bug report via Feedback Assistant (FB17608544) What else can be done to speed up review or get flagged domains unblocked in Safari? This is hurting our business and blocking consumer access — despite following all Apple guidelines. Would appreciate any insights or escalation tips. Thank you! – Derek Eiteneier Founder, Outdoor Gala

HTML problem at Safari on iPadOS 18.2 or after version
We confirmed a problem at Safari on iPadOS 18.2 or after version. For confirmation, we made a HTML document (see below HTML1) what include ‘method="POST" target="_blank"’ and tested the form however server received GET method and there is no parameter, server did not receive “id” parameter. We confirmed that fact in captured packet and log file that on the server. HTML1: We also made another HTML document (see below HTML2) what include submit button, but the server received GET method as above. HTML2: And we also confirmed that it behaves differently depending on the network environment. If the form targets a name that does not exist (ex. target=” A12345”), behaves differently http or https. http: Safari opened new tag, but the server received GET method. Normally, Safari open new tag and the server receive POST method. https: Safari opened new tag, and the server received POST method. It is normally. If the form targets ‘_blank’, the server received GET method on http or https both. We think Safari change the method POST to GET and delete parameters. It is not conformed to the HTML specification if is that true. We confirmed it was not happened at Safari on iPadOS 17.4, and Windows PC (Edge, Chrome). The method what the server received is POST. We find same problem in Apple Support Community (see below URL). https://discussionsjapan.apple.com/thread/255987615 (Described in Japanese) Is it a bug in Safari on iPadOS 18.2 or after version? Do you have plan to fix? Or if fixed the bug, when do you release fixed version.

When loading a .webarchive in WKWebView does it handle local storage differently in iOS 18?
I have multiple web views of the same domain that share the same local storage, as expected. One of them though, is loading a .webarchive file. The web archive is of the same domain, and is loaded using the same base URL. For some reason, in most cases, the local storage is not shared with this web view when loading the web archive, although if I make that same web view load the actual live web page it does share local storage. I say in most cases, because for some users it works as expected, but for a significant portion of users it isn't sharing local storage. I think that the main difference between working and not is iOS version. iOS 17 seems to be able to share the local storage but iOS 18 does not. I can't find anything related in the release notes of iOS 18 versions. There is nothing in the documentation for load(_:mimeType:characterEncodingName:baseURL:), or the header file, that explains anything specific about local storage and webarchive loading. Does anyone know for sure how local storage is handled when a webarchive is loaded into a web view, and did something change with iOS 18 in regards to this?

Browser window with URL not opening via ASWebAuth
Our app uses ASWebAuthenticationSession for login. This launches an incognito (ephemeral) browser window of the system’s default browser with the authentication URL. Recently, on the latest macOS Tahoe, we observe that: The browser application is launched(we could see in the dock) But the authentication window with the URL does not appear No error is returned to the app (silent failure)

Duplicate Smart App Banners in Safari when App Is Installed
Issue: On Safari, two Smart App Banners appear for the same webpage when the iOS app is installed. Cause: • Banner 1: Native Apple Smart App Banner, automatically triggered by Safari via AASA / Universal Links. • Banner 2: Smart banner injected by a third-party SDK (Branch.io). • Both operate independently, resulting in duplicate banners. Finding: Safari’s native Smart App Banner behavior is system-controlled and cannot be disabled programmatically using web rules or JavaScript while Universal Links are enabled. Question: Is this behavior expected by design? Is there any Apple-supported way to suppress the native Smart App Banner when using a third-party banner, or is the recommended approach to rely on only one banner system?

Is iOS webrtc communication based on webview stable when app is background
Is iOS WebRTC communication via WebView stable when the app is in the background? I'm implementing SIP communication using JsSIP within a WebView. On iOS, I'm using WKWebView, but I'm concerned that its resources may be limited by the system when the app is backgrounded. Even with the VoIP background mode declared in the Info.plist file, will the system preserve sufficient resources to keep the SIP communication active?

Sharing My Experience in Developing an SSL Certificate Monitoring Website
Hi everyone, recently I used codex and GPT-5.2 to build a simple SSL certificate monitoring website, and I'd like to share some of my development experiences. The project link is at the end, but first, let's talk about the technical implementation. The Motivation I've encountered several service outages caused by expired SSL certificates in the past. Each time, I had to react after users reported the issue, which was very passive. While there are some monitoring tools on the market, they are either too heavy or lack the necessary features, so I decided to build my own. Technology Stack Next.js 16 + shadcn/ui + TypeScript I chose Next.js because: The development experience with App Router is excellent, with a clear mapping between routes and file structure. Server Components reduce the need for client-side JavaScript. Built-in features like image optimization and font loading are ready to use out of the box. shadcn/ui is a component library based on Radix UI, and its advantages are: Components are copied directly into your project, giving you full control. It uses Tailwind CSS, making style customization easy. It has excellent accessibility features. Drizzle ORM + PostgreSQL I've used Prisma before, but I tried Drizzle this time and found it to be more lightweight: Faster type generation. More intuitive SQL operations. Better query performance. better-auth Authentication System This is a recent discovery I made, and it's more modern than NextAuth: Better TypeScript support. A cleaner API design. Supports email/password and multiple OAuth providers (GitHub, Google). Some Challenges I Faced 1. The Complexity of Certificate Chain Validation At first, I thought checking an SSL certificate was simple—just get the certificate information. I later discovered that certificate chain validation is quite complex: You need to verify the signature of each certificate in the chain. You must check the integrity of the entire certificate chain. You have to determine if the root certificate is trusted (which browsers have built-in lists for). You need to handle cases where intermediate certificates are missing. The solution was to create a complete certificate chain extraction and validation module that includes: Extracting the full certificate chain from a TLS connection. Verifying the signature and validity period of each certificate. Detecting broken or incomplete chains. Visualizing the chain structure in a tree format. 2. Designing the Security Scoring System To help users quickly understand the security status of their certificates, I created a scoring system from A+ to F. The core logic is: Weighted score across four dimensions - Certificate Validity: 30% - Chain Integrity: 25% - Cryptographic Strength: 25% - Protocol Version: 20% If there are critical issues (e.g., expired certificate), the maximum grade is C The challenges were: How to allocate weights reasonably. How to design the penalty rules. How to provide valuable improvement suggestions. Ultimately, I adopted a layered scoring approach where each dimension is calculated independently and then combined with weights. 3. Hydration Issues with Multi-language Routing When supporting 6 languages, I encountered React Hydration errors: // ❌ Incorrect approach // app/[locale]/layout.tsx contained the <html> tag // This conflicted with the root layout // ✅ Correct approach // The root layout has only one <html> tag // Use a client component to dynamically update the lang attribute 4. Graceful Degradation for Redis Caching To improve authentication performance, I added Redis caching. But I had to consider: What happens when Redis is unavailable? How do you handle cache and database data inconsistency? The solution was: Automatically fall back to the database if the Redis connection fails. Actively invalidate the cache when the database is updated. Provide cache statistics API to monitor the hit rate. 5. PageSpeed Optimization Initially, the Lighthouse score was only in the 60s. The main problems were: Large JavaScript Bundle Used Next.js's dynamic imports to load components on demand. Removed unused dependencies. Enabled Tree Shaking. Image Optimization Used the Next.js Image component for automatic optimization. Added appropriate placeholders. Enabled lazy loading for images. Font Loading Used next/font for automatic font optimization. Reduced the number of font variants. Used font-display: swap to avoid layout shifts. Critical Rendering Path Identified critical CSS and inlined it into the HTML. Deferred loading of non-critical JavaScript. Optimized the loading order of third-party scripts. Third-party Script Optimization Deferred loading for Google Analytics, Crisp Chat, etc. Used the defer/async attributes. Considered using Web Workers for time-consuming tasks. After optimization: Performance: 60 → 95 Accessibility: 85 → 98 Best Practices: 90 → 100 SEO: 100 Some Technical Highlights Certificate Chain Visualization A tree structure is used to display the certificate chain, with expand/collapse functionality and color-coding for different statuses: Green: Valid Yellow: Expiring soon Red: Expired Security Issue Detection Automatically detects insecure cryptographic algorithms: MD5, SHA-1 signature algorithms. Weak ciphers like RC4, DES. Old protocols like TLS 1.0/1.1. Multi-channel Notifications Currently supports five notification channels: Email, Slack, Discord, Telegram, and Feishu. Users can freely combine them. Project Link https://guardssl.info Features: Free SSL certificate checking. Domain monitoring and expiration reminders. Security scoring and improvement suggestions. Multi-language support (Chinese, English, Japanese, French, Spanish). Feel free to try it out and provide feedback. We can discuss any questions you might have.

Notification sound (Web or PWA)
Good morning fellow developers, For a while i am struggeling with providing sound to my users on IOS (Safari on Mac is no problem and every other device is not a problem) (we have an existing phone system and made a chat as well), the case is very simple: the notification sound is only for users who are logged in and online for chat. i have tried multiple things: Audio play with javascript (start with mute, play when user clicks a button so the sound is familiar, play when user clicks a button and directly pause it and continue when needed) PWA: the dashboard has been made available as pwa and notifications using google firebase. The popup does show for notifcations to be allowed (and receiving the notifications does work on any other device) But any IOS device cannot register. The information i find is that notifications were supported with 16.4 or higher but also have been deprecated around IOS 17, auto play is not allowed. We have an app in development for our product as well were we will have a notification which will handle this, but that is not the solution we can use now. Long story, short question: is it still somehow possible to push a notification to the user when using the PWA or play a sound in the browser (based on an ajax function). The app/website wont be in the background, so it will always be on the screen. Languages we use: html/javascript (mostly vanilla)/php

WKWebView + Cookie
Description: In our app, we have login page which displayed in WKWebView. In that page, there is an Remember my Device cookie option which user can select, so next time it OTP page will not be displayed. Problem Statement: Recently we found that some issue happened with this cookie. Especially, when users upgraded their OS versions to 18.6 or 26.1 or 26.2. Need to understand, any changes related to Cookie part in latest OS Versions?
