I’m experiencing an issue in Xcode 16 where the app randomly builds and runs in the simulator while I’m designing items in the storyboard.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far to stop this behavior:
Disabled "Show Live Issues" in the General settings
Removed all key bindings related to Build & Run in the Key Bindings settings
Checked for unintentional shortcut triggers, but nothing seems to be causing it
Update XCode from 16.1 to 16.2
Delete Derived Data
Despite these actions, Xcode still automatically builds and launches the simulator at unexpected times, disrupting my workflow.
Is there any setting or hidden configuration that could be causing this?
How can I completely prevent Xcode from running the simulator automatically while editing UI in the storyboard?
Would really appreciate any guidance on this!

Hi All,
I have an App on AppStore, recently the minimum supported version of the app was changed from iOS 12 to iOS 14.
Post that the TestFlight builds are crashing on launch.
If we revert the minimum supported iOS version to 12, the crash no longer happens.
This project is using cocoapods, and from the crash logs it seems the issue with with PLCrashReporter framework.
"EXC_CRASH" Termination reason: DYLD 9 weak-def symbol not found '__ZN7plcrash3PL_5async15dwarf_cfa_stateljiE10push_stateEv'.
This issue is happening only on TestFlight builds where the minimum supported version is 14.0
Any pointer to a solution is welcome.
Hello.
We're developing an app with Flutter that receives VoIP calls. However, when the app is in the background or closed, the push notification arrives, but the call doesn't. It works perfectly when the app is open. We use Firebase, Flutter, and JANUS WebRTC. We need to know what type of permissions or actions we should consider so that the app opens when it receives a call. How can we resolve this issue? Thank you very much.
It is a bit strange what Xcode Cloud has implemented on how they manage the Build Numbers https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/setting-the-next-build-number-for-xcode-cloud-builds
Intead of just looking at the project configuration as the source of truth, they run their own build number and totally ignore the project config value. Also, interesting that instead of solving it they have a "Set Build Number" menu in the settings which is a pain to manually manage everytime they got out of sync.
Is there any way to turn this madness off and consider the project config as the source of truth?
I have tried several options so far to no avail:
Unarchiver shuts down silently (after ~1.5hr of trying to unarchive).
xip console tool fails after ~1.5hr with this error:
xip: signing certificate was "Software Update" (validation not attempted)
xip: error: The archive “Xcode_12.5.1.xip” failed to be moved to the final destination due to the error: The operation couldn’t be completed. No such file or directory.
extracted .app is incomplete though weighs about 30GB
unxip extracts for ~1.5hr (being stuck for ~40min on Expanding items from “Xcode_12.5.1.xip”: 99%) and then shuts down. extracted .app is incomplete with the size of ~1.9GB
Are there any other options I can try to extract Xcode 12.5.1 xip archive?
Would external drive be an issue (I have Xcode_12.5.1.xip on external drive)?
This browser extension is a doc reading enhancer for the Apple Developer website.
It supports i18n translation, hover link previews, and bilingual display.
Currently, it supports four languages: ja-JP, ko-KR, zh-CN, and zh-TW.
It works with Swift/SwiftUI/Foundation modules now, and it's expected to support Swift Test, Swift Charts, UIKit, Swift Playground, and XCode modules by the end of this month.
For more info, check out: https://appledocs.dev.
You can also visit https://appledocs.dev/progress to see translation progress and vote.
Note: It's only works on Chrome、Edge(In review)、Firefox(In review)

We are experiencing an issue where our app gets stuck during launch. The splash screen appears for some time, and then the app either becomes unresponsive or closes unexpectedly. However, there are no crash logs captured in Xcode or Firebase Crashlytics, indicating that the app is not crashing but rather being terminated. This issue is preventing affected users from properly launching the app.
Additionally, some users have reported occasional lag and slow performance when using the app. The issue occurs only for a specific subset of users and appears to be related to other Electronic Logging Device (ELD) apps running in the background. When these apps are active, our app struggles to launch and sometimes becomes unresponsive.
We suspect that this behavior could be related to system resource allocation, such as high memory consumption by background apps, which might be affecting our app's ability to launch correctly. However, we have been unable to reproduce the issue on our end despite multiple attempts.
Actions Performed During App Launch:
Firebase configuration
API requests, including:
Fetching account details
Registering the FCM token with the server
Asynchronous background requests to fetch POI details
Creating a local database and storing POI data in local storage
We would like guidance from Apple regarding potential causes and debugging strategies, especially in scenarios where the app does not produce crash logs but still fails to launch properly. Any insights into memory management, conflicts with background applications, or system resource constraints would be highly appreciated.
Steps to Reproduce:
Install and launch the app on an affected device.
Observe that the app gets stuck on the launch screen.
After some time, the app terminates unexpectedly.
Issue is inconsistent and occurs only for certain users.
Presence of other ELD apps running in the background appears to influence the issue.
I think from January 2025 I'm trying to become a developer for apple. The process was an adventure.
First time I used the website to become a registered developer. All good until i wasn't able to make any inputs in a disabled required field that was required but empty.
I said ok, I'll try to use their support to guide me. After couple of mails I've understood that those answers were like: "sorry for inconvenience but try again maybe you didn't do something as expected". I've restarted the process many times and did tried, nothing worked. So... go back to email with support (note, there is no quick reply, sometimes it takes near a week or so to respond: and the response is "try again, sorry to hear that, let us know if we can help you")
After a month or so i got an email that told me to use the application to enroll. So I decided to use it. So I've canceled my active enroll and moved to the device. My iPad Pro didn't worked, so I moved to MacBook Pro and tried from there with the Developer App. Didn't work....
Go back to email support.
After a while they told me that is an issue with my card and they can't get my money from it, (is the same that I'm using on their store to buy app and it works without any issue).
After another months spent on emails (copule because of their response timing, maximum 2 reply each week) and after I said I'll do my best to find someone from their management to let them know the nightmare that I'm forced to live with the support team, they said let me call you. They called me and their tool for remote view desktop didn't worked so it was like, do this, do that, I did, I did, I tried...ok let's try one more time and don't touch anything after.
I did what they said and they told me that I'll be contacted soon. 2-3 days I waited for the call and...nothing... I did sent reply email support to understand the status of enrollment.
I got this:
"
Thanks for your message. I will be happy to provide a status update.
Your orders have not been successful. I am trying once again today.
Since it is Friday, it will take a little longer to process.
I will check on it again on Monday, when we are back in the office.
Kind regards,
"
And today is Tuesday and nothing...
I did asked also if you can't take my money just let me know the error that you receive so I'll be able to contact card issuer and ask to verify if that is an issue with it. I did asked and they told me they don't see any issue.
Now I'm stuck,,,,
Do I need to contact Tim just to open a developer account? I think he's busy with more important stuff.

I want to install the latest Xcode development software on my Mac, but the xip files won't open. I keep getting the following message:
There was a problem while reading the contents of "Xcode_15 xip":
Data is corrupted
I have tried several unarchiver packages, and keep getting this message. I have also downloaded several other Xcode versions with the same result. Any idea what is going on here and/or how to fix it?

Hey iOS Dev's,
I’m currently working on a Swift Package Manager (SPM) for WireGuard, originally developed by a previous team member. It was working fine in Xcode 15.2, but after upgrading to Xcode 16 and Swift 6, I need to update the SPM to ensure compatibility with my base projects and other projects relying on it.
With Apple making Xcode 16 mandatory for app submissions starting April 24, this has become an urgent issue. I’ve searched extensively but haven’t found a working solution yet.
Has anyone faced similar challenges with Swift 6 migration and SPM updates? Any insights, best practices, or debugging tips would be greatly appreciated!
Let’s connect and collaborate—I’d love to discuss possible solutions! 😊

Hi, I'm currently facing an issue where my React Native app crashes only on a real iPhone. On the simulator and in Xcode preview, the app runs fine.
Previously, I had an issue with FlatList regarding props.getItem, which I solved by installing some missing Babel dependencies. After that, everything worked correctly in the simulator.
But when I try to open the app on a real device, it shows the splash screen and crashes immediately. I've already done a full clean and reset, including:
npx react-native start --reset-cache
Deleted node_modules and Pods, reinstalled everything
Cleaned build folder via Xcode
Deleted DerivedData
Restarted Metro bundler and simulator/device
The issue only happens on the physical device.
Here’s a portion of the crash log

We are facing a challenge with the renewal of our Apple Developer Program. Last year, we renewed it using a UPI ID, but that UPI ID is no longer available. We have added a new UPI ID and want the payment to be deducted from it. However, when we click on ‘Renew the Program,’ it redirects us to the old UPI ID, which we are unable to delete. It also shows that there is a currently active subscription linked to that UPI ID. We are in the 30-day grace period. We contacted the Apple Support team, but they have not provided a solution. Is there anyone who can help with this?”
Hi, I currently have an app that connect to an arduno via CoreBluetooth. However, the app no longer discovers the arduino when the operating system was upgraded to iOS 18.3.1, however on iOS version 17.6.1 the ardiuno was discoverable I was able to test this theory on two different phones each with different iOS versions. Why are my peripherals no longer being discovered with this update? and what is the solution?

Hi all,
I’m looking for a way to automate the process of adding Swift Package dependencies (SPM) into an Xcode project.
Right now, I’m doing this manually via:
Xcode → Project → Swift Packages → Add Package Dependency...
But I’d like to script this step — ideally as part of a CI/CD pipeline or a setup script. I explored the xcodeproj Ruby gem, but it doesn’t support adding SPM packages, and there's no official support for editing the .xcodeproj structure related to Swift Packages.
So my question is:
Is there any Apple-supported or community-supported way to programmatically add Swift Package dependencies to an Xcode project or workspace?
Would love to know if anyone has:
Used xcodebuild, xcodegen, or other tools for this
Explored editing project files directly (like project.pbxproj or Package.resolved)
Found any API or CLI hooks from Apple for this
Thanks in advance!

I tried \s+$ to find trailing spaces, but it seems the IDE code editor behaves strangely - it locates random lines that obviously has no trailing spaces.
Did I misunderstand regex in the editor?
Im unable to enroll on developer program shows unable to continue do we have to add funds beofre making an purchase.
I have an application that uses WeatherKit for which I use the registered identifier com.[mycompanyname].[myappname] .
I'm now developing a second application using WeatherKit, so I need to create a new identifier on https://developer.apple.com/account/resources/identifiers/add/appId/bundle so that WeatherKit will recognize requests from com.[mycompanyname].[myappname2].
(in this post, I'm using "[xxx]" instead of the real strings)
When I go to create an identifier for the new app, I get the error message:
An attribute in the provided entity has invalid value
An App ID with Identifier 'com.[mycompanyname].[myappname2]' is not available. Please enter a different string.
Can anybody explain why I can't register the new app name, and how I can fix this?

In Xcode, when you type a word like "don't", a second apostrophe is automatically inserted after the word and you have to manually delete it.
Repro steps:
Create a new empty Markdown file or XML file.
Open the file in Xcode.
Type the word “don’t”.
Expected behavior: The word “don’t” appears.
Observed behavior: The word “don’t” appears, followed by an extra single quote.
