Background or Foreground
Hi Team! Has anyone found a reliable way to detect CarPlay connection without the app needing to be in the foreground? I’m exploring a concept where, for example, as someone nears home while driving, a prompt appears on the CarPlay screen asking “Would you like to turn on the lights / open garage?” triggered by proximity and CarPlay connection. Would be cool to have it work automatically, but knowing you're in the car is kind of important. From what I can see, apps can’t reliably detect CarPlay connection unless they’re actively open on the CarPlay screen. Most background detection methods (like external screen connect notifications) appear deprecated. That is, unless you're specifically approved as a "messaging" or "navigation" app that appear to get special privilages to send alerts from the background. If I send an alert (or poll Carplay periodically) it just gives silent/dead response. Is there any approach, framework, entitlement, or UI pattern that could allow a passive trigger or background detection while driving with CarPlay connected? I can't see any way to bring an app to the foreground either. Not looking to abuse any rules... just want to understand if anyone’s found a clean, approved workaround. Thanks in advance!

Text in NSTextView with TextKit2 is cropped instead of being soft-wrapped
I noticed that sometimes TextKit2 decides to crop some text instead of soft-wrapping it to the next line. This can be reproduced by running the code below, then resizing the window by dragging the right margin to the right until you see the text with green background (starting with “file0”) at the end of the first line. If you now slowly move the window margin back to the left, you’ll see that for some time that green “file0” text is cropped and so is the end of the text with red background, until at some point it is soft-wrapped on the second line. I just created FB18289242. Xcode UIKit Document App template crashes under Swift 6
I'm trying to switch to UIKit's document lifecycle due to serious bugs with SwiftUI's version. However I'm noticing the template project from Xcode isn't compatible with Swift 6 (I already migrated my app to Swift 6.). To reproduce: File -> New -> Project Select "Document App" under iOS Set "Interface: UIKit" In Build Settings, change Swift Language Version to Swift 6 Run app Tap "Create Document" Observe: crash in _dispatch_assert_queue_fail Does anyone know of a work around other than downgrading to Swift 5?

Mixing NavigationLink types (value: and non-value: types)
Hello, I was wondering if someone could clear-up my thinking here. e.g. consider the code below... It has a rootView with a navlink to a childView which in turn has navlinks to GrandchildViews. The root view uses basic navLInks NavigationLink{View} label: {View} The child view uses type-based navLinks navigationLink(value:) {View} and .navigationDestination(for:) {View} I would expect the basic navlinks to work in the root view and the type-based ones to work in the child view. However it appears that both are active when one taps on a link in the child view. e.g. User actions: Start -> RootView is only view on the stack -> (tap on ‘Child View’) -> ChildView is top of the stack -> tap on ‘Alice’ -> a second ChildView is top of the stack with a GrandchildView underneath…. Why does this happen, why are the basic links also applied to the childView's links? SwiftUI app crashes (EXC_BAD_ACCESS) when view hierarchy becomes too large.
Hey! Our team is experiencing some issue in a large SwiftUI application. When loading large views, the app crashes with a EXC_BAD_ACCESS signal. This signal can be reported by Xcode either on the @main attribute, inside a view hierarchy, or any order property that is accessed in the view hierarchy. After some investigation we found several possible workarounds: Splitting up the view into smaller subviews Wrapping parts of the view into an AnyView, which isn't ideal. However, this only temporarily solved the issue. As the app becomes bigger, we run into this problem more frequently. Of course such a view is not very likely to occur, but in total a view hierarchy could have this many view modifiers. Is there some limit we should we aware of? How can we circumvent this? Thanks!

iOS26 beta ToolbarItem with placement to principal width is not fill to screen
I’m trying to add a TextField to the toolbar using .principal placement, and I want it to either fill the screen width or expand based on the surrounding content. However, it’s not resizing as expected — the TextField only resizes correctly when I provide a hardcoded width value. This behavior was working fine in previous versions of Xcode, but seems to be broken in Xcode 26. Hide title bar in Xcode preview (macOS)
I am trying to hide the titlebar for a macOS app and despite searching throughout the entire day, there's nothing that points to how I can achieve this. I did find this page in the documentation but I don't understand it. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uititlebar/titlevisibility How do I remove the part where it says Xcode Previews? I have used the following on my WindowGroup that works perfectly when the app is being run but it doesn't do anything in the preview. .windowStyle(.hiddenTitleBar)

LaunchScreen is black when i use image set
Anybody can help me with the problems of splashboard? My request is to create a launchScreen.storyboard that can follows system's theme. So in the storyboard i use the image set resource which is created in Assets.xcassets. But i encountered the following problems: when i use image set resource,the splashboard is black, seems like springboard fail to generate the ktx file. But when i move the same image file to the root of Resource directory, it works. Why???? Some image works when it is put in Image set, some file can't. But all file don't work when the image set contains both light image and dark image. Why??? Suddenly it works for when i change compression attribute to lossess,so i guess the problems hanppened when my image is compressed. And two days later, the splash board is dark again when i debug. So what is the cache strategy for the splash board and the image resource used. How can i clear the cache, delete the app is not enough? Should i restart my phone? That's all, anybody can help me?

How to move from Share Extension to the main screen

Dynamically resizing NSPreferencePane content
Is it not possible to dynamically change or constrain an NSPreferencePane's mainView size? I have looked all over and this doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. I looked at the header file for NSPreferencePane and came up with nothing. All I can think of is that this is impossible due to the way they are implemented? The only thing we seemingly have access to is mainView, so I can't like constrain the size of mainView to its parent, for example. Additionally, if I make a new preference pane, and make a button or other view that I choose to resize to fill horizontally and vertically, it does that, but not really? Here is what that looks like: The behaviour is similar to the previous preference pane, the width does adapt correctly, the height stays the same, forever. Not that it really matters but I am using macOS 14.7.6 on an M2 air

Some sharing extensions disabled when running iOS app with Mac Catalyst
When I run my iOS app on a Mac using Mac Catalyst, several sharing options that show up on an iOS device in a share sheet are absent on the Mac. Clicking on Edit Extensions, I see Mail, Message and AirDrop, their switches are on and disabled. All three items show up when I share from Safari or Notes. How can I make Mail, Message and AirDrop available? For example, when sharing data, no share extensions are shown. For text, only Simulator, Shortcuts and Copy are shown.

About CarPlay entitlement of EV
I'm developing a CarPlay version of my app, with the CarPlay EV Charging App entitlement (com.apple.developer.carplay-charging). However, I would like to use the Search template to searching for charging stations — but it seems this template is only available for Navigation Apps(maps). In this case, what is the recommended approach? Is it possible to apply both entitlements simultaneously and use the Search template only?

How to have different colors in Charts with AreaMark
I would like to have different fill colors in my chart. What I want to achieve is that if the values drop below 0 the fill color should be red. If they are above the fill color should be red. UISplitViewController changes behavior of `viewControllers` property on iOS 26
I am attempting to start my application on iOS 26 with Xcode 26. It uses an UISplitViewController that is instantiated through a Storyboard. It uses the "Unspecified" style, which is a holdover from a previous version of iOS. I'm not sure if this is a bug in iOS, or if I am supposed to change it now. The viewControllers property only has the primary view controller on iOS, although it has the primary and detail view controllers on iPadOS. When I start the application on iOS 18.5, it has both primary and detail controllers on both platforms.

Trigger save of a FileDocument in a DocumentGroup?
I have a DocumentGroup working with a FileDocument, and that's fine. However, when someone creates a new document I want them to have to immediately save it. This is the behavior on ipadOS and iOS from what I can understand (you select where before the file is created). There seems to be no way to do this on macOS? I basically want to have someone: create a new document enter some basic data hit "create" which saves the file then lets the user start editing it (1), (2), and (4) are done and fairly trivial. UIPanGestureRecognizer is broken on iPadOS26
