All Safari interactions are done solely inside a SFSafariExtensionHandler . But now i'm considering adding some features from Google Chrome's Extension API like window switching. Is it possible to add a background.js worker to my existing Safari App Extension to have access to the beginRequest method override inside SFSafariExtensionHandler? Without converting my extension from Safari App Extension to Safari Web Extenion?

We’re encountering an issue when trying to add non-standard headers to outgoing requests using Declarative Net Request (DNR) rules in our Safari Web Extension. Tested on macOS 15.4 with Safari 18.4. Specifically, when attempting to add a custom header such as "X-Custom-Header" using a DNR rule, the header does not appear in the request. We are able to add standard headers like "Authorization" and "Cookie" to the request successfully using the same method. This behavior suggests that Safari may be filtering or blocking non-standard headers when set via DNR rules, unlike other browsers. In Chrome and Firefox, the same rule adds the "X-Custom-Header" header without any issue. We are looking for assistance in fixing these issues and having our Safari Extension function the same as it does in Firefox and Chrome.

Despite using the iPad in landscape mode, self-camera video is forced to portrait (Rotate 90 degrees). Only the video is portrait, even though the browser is in landscape orientation. Our app use getUserMedia() to get the video. The problem also happend in iPad Safari GoogleMeet. Details: The problem occurs even when the screen orientation is locked. After the video has been forced to portrait, rotating the iPad temporarily changes the video to landscape, but forces it to portrait again. It takes around 0 - 30 seconds before the video is forced to portrait. Both selfie camera and back camera I have confirmed this problem on the following devices iPad 8th iPadOS: 18.3.1 iPad10th iPadOS:18.3.1 iPadPro(M4) iPadOS:18.3.1 Some devices do not have this problem, even if they are the same model and OS version. Currently, im on MacOS Tahoe 26 Public Beta 2, build number 25A5327h. I just recently updated to this, and now, whenever I open some sites like Amazon, or ChatGPT, it freezes my entire browser and I have to force quit it. I tried deleting the SpeakSelection.plist file which everyone swore worked, but not for me. Is this because the new update messed with resource allocation or did my user data corrupt mid-update and i have to transfer all my stuff to a new user?

Hi i Need help, my phone keeps getting all these updates and rapid security features on it at first I thought it was just the normal updates but i started to pay more attention and it's not. i have the beta updates on my phone iPad and Apple Watch but when I go in to see if it in my updates like apple said to do it wasn't in there. Also all my apps are developer apps I'm not able to get normal ones and if I can the next time I go on it it's not how it was. I really don't know what to do, I've gotten 2 new phones because I thought it was just bad software but I researched a lot and I think someone it hacking me. everytime I look something up on safari it takes me to a whole other website or its completly altered and doesnt look like it usually does. I'm creating a Safari Web Extension, which successfully uses storage.local and storage.session on MacOS (14.x/15.x) and iOS (15.x,18.x). However, when testing on an iPad running iPadOS 16.3, it fails with an undefined error: TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating 'api.storage.session.get') Dropping to the console, I can access 'api.storage.local', but no luck for 'api.storage.session'. First question, why would storage.session not be available? Is there something different on this iPadOS version to enable it? I could just use local storage, but don't need the data to persist. I'll probably just fall back to this solution. Second question, should I instead be using localStorage and sessionStorage? I can't find any helpful direction on if using localStorage vs storage.local is best practice?

We are experiencing a compatibility issue with our hybrid app related to the recent update in iPadOS 18.4, specifically concerning HTTPS connections. updateDynamic rules is blocking ads on my device with iOS 17.4, but on my iOS 18 device the same code is not blocking ads. Is this a known issue?

This post is an effort to draw attention to a regression in Tahoe that has a large impact on our app. This bug was filed during seed 3 but remains open: FB18869578: Regression: WebView fails to render fonts registered with CTFontManagerRegisterFontURLs or ATSApplicationFontsPath The gist of it is that WKWebView fails to render text that is styled with a “font-family” that references a font that has been loaded into the app using either the ATSApplicationFontsPath Info.plist key or loaded dynamically with CTFontManagerRegisterFontURLs. The area where the text should be is just blank. There is more detail and a reproducer in the bug referenced above. We really hope this bug can get fixed before GA. Our app is an enterprise app via MDM. We are experiencing an issue in iPadOS 18.4 when loading an internal HTTPS server via WKWebView in a hybrid iOS app. Our server uses a self-signed certificate but lacks the digitalSignature usage in its Key Usage extension. (Currently we have no chance to change the server's certificate) We override webView:didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:completionHandler: to trust the certificate: completionHandler(NSURLSessionAuthChallengeUseCredential, credential); This "completionHandler" works in previous 18.3.2 , but not work in 18.4. May I know is there any changes in 18.4 for the https certification? Why this delegate not work? What we can do to ignore this ssl error and get connection? We are encountering an issue where the Safari extension we are developing stops working while in use on relatively new iOS versions (confirmed on 17.5.1, 17.6.1, and 18). Upon checking the Safari console, the content script is displayed in the extension script, so the background script or Service Worker must be stopping. The time until it stops is about 1 minute on 17.5.1 and about one day on 17.6.1 or 18. When it stops, we would like to find a way to restart the Service Worker from the extension side, but we have not found a method to do so yet. To restart the extension, the user needs to turn off the corresponding extension in the iPhone settings and then turn it back on. I'm developing a cross-platform application using Tauri, which uses WebView technology as the GUI renderer. On macOS, it should be using WKWebView. Based on my tests, all applications developed with Tauri can only run at 60fps on macOS and cannot take advantage of ProMotion displays to achieve a 120fps refresh rate, whereas the same application can run at 120fps on other platforms. I have submitted this issue to Tauri on GitHub, and it appears that this cannot be resolved through external settings, but only by modifying the WKWebView code to support higher frame rates. Is there any possible solution to this?
