iOS 26 regression: `DeviceActivityEvent`: `eventDidReachThreshold` called immediately (instead of waiting till threshold is reached)
Hello! I am experiencing some strange bugs around DeviceActivityEvents: When creating a DeviceActivityEvent we can assign a threshold and applicationTokens. The idea is, that after the user has spent said threshold on said apps, eventDidReachThreshold is called. includesPastActivity is set to false. On iOS 26 however, it happens (quite reliably after updating to a new beta seed) quite often that eventDidReachThreshold is called immediately (after a couple of seconds) instead of waiting for the threshold to be met. Is anyone else seeing similar issues on iOS 26? Only workaround I have found is to ask users to re-grant Screen Time permissions. This only holds for about two weeks though or at most until the next iOS 26 beta update is installed. Feedback filed under: FB18061981 FB18927456

Provisioning profile missing entitlement
My iOS app uses CloudKit key-value storage. I have not updated the app in a few years but it works fine. Since it was last updated, I transferred the app from an old organization to my personal developer account. Now that I'm working on the app again I get an error: Provisioning profile "iOS Team Provisioning Profile: com.company.app" doesn't match the entitlements file's value for the com.apple.developer.ubiquity-kvstore-identifier entitlement. In the entitlement file, it has $(TeamIdentifierPrefix)$(CFBundleIdentifier) as the value for iCloud Key-Value Store. I've verified the variables resolve as expected. When I parse the provisioning profile there is no entitlement value for key-value storage. What am I getting wrong?

MacBook Pro m5 can’t recognize two external monitors with same EDID binary serial (only one works at a time)
My MacBook Pro M5 running MacOS Tahoe 26.3 beta fails to detect two identical ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM monitors simultaneously. Only one display is recognized at a time. One potential root cause might be that both monitors report identical binary EDID serial numbers (0x01010101), and the MacBook Pro M5 appears to use this value exclusively for display identity rather than combining it with other more detailed information (e.g., port, or alphanumeric serial number). I've verified that the monitor EDID binary serial numbers are in fact identical -- however the alphanumerical serial numbers are not identical. NOTE: This behavior is specific to the MacBook Pro M5 — when connecting both monitors via usb-c to a Mac Mini M4 Pro running the same MacOS Tahoe 26.3 beta, the monitors work fine. The OS detects both and assigns different names to them (PG32UCDM (1) and PG32UCDM (2)). NOTE: I could be wrong about this root cause, I don't have a way to disprove it, though the fact the monitors work fine on a Mac Mini is suspicious. What I have tried: Connecting the two monitors using different monitor ports (one on DisplayPort, another on HDMI, etc.), and different MacBook ports (one on HDMI, another on USB-C, etc.) Bumping down the resolution on the monitors to "1920x1080 (low resolution)" and 30Hz to rule out bandwidth issues. Connecting one, or both, monitors to CalDigit TS5 Plus dock. Neither alternate configuration yields the device recognizing both screens. Using BetterDisplay to import a manually-edited EDID for the screen, with a different binary EDID value, manufacturer name, etc. I've also verified that if I plug in my Apple Studio Display as one of the monitors, then the MacBook recognizes both one of the PG32UCDM monitors and the Studio Display at the same time. The issue seems to occur only when both monitors plugged into it are the same PG32UCDM model. When I have both monitors plugged into my MacBook, each time I disconnect the cable to whichever monitor is currently recognized, it immediately recognizes the other monitor. Plugging the cable for the disconnected monitor back in has no effect. I'm at a loss. Has anyone run into this issue and found a successful workaround that is not one of the approaches I've described above?

SwiftData migration error: NSCloudKitMirroringDelegate are not reusable
Hello everyone, I used SwiftData for v1 of an app and am now trying to make changes to the schema for v2. I created the v2 schema that adds a property to one of the models. I need to populate the new property so I made a custom migration using didMigrate. However that doesn't seem to matter what I do in the migration because creating the ModelContainer throws an error before didMigrate ever gets called. The error is: Unresolved error loading container Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134060 "A Core Data error occurred." UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailureReason=Instances of NSCloudKitMirroringDelegate are not reusable and should have a lifecycle tied to a given instance of NSPersistentStore.} Higher up in the Xcode output I see things like this (in order): Request 'D25A8CB8-7341-4FA8-B2F8-3DE2D35B5273' was cancelled because the store was removed from the coordinator. BUG IN CLIENT OF CLOUDKIT: Registering a handler for a CKScheduler activity identifier that has already been registered CloudKit setup failed because it couldn't register a handler for the export activity. There is another instance of this persistent store actively syncing with CloudKit in this process. How can I know from this output what I am doing incorrectly? Any idea what I should take a look at or try to do differently? This is a simple app with three models and nothing fancy. The only change in the schema is to add a property. The new property is declared as optional and has an inverse that is also declared as optional. Thanks for any insight!

Managing the order of Transparent Proxies from MDM Profile
We have an application which is written in Swift, which activates Transparent Proxy network extension. Our Transparent Proxy module is a system extension, which is exposing an app proxy provider interface (We are using NETransparentProxyProvider class and in extension’s Info.plist we use com.apple.networkextension.app-proxy key.) We are using JAMF MDM profile for installing our transparent proxy in customer environment. We are using VPN payload(https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/vpn) for this network system extension. This payload does not have any field for order. As per https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/vpn/transparentproxy-data.dictionary documentation there is another payload for TransparentProxy and we could create a Transparent Proxy profile using iMazingProfile Editor. Noticed that, if we add the Order attribute to the VPN/TransparentProxy payload, while installing the extension, the save to preferences fails with "Error in saving TP configuration in updateOnDemandRule permission denied" error. Can we use this Order field to ordering the installed Transparent Proxy extension in a machine? Customer devices will likely have other Transparent Proxy network extensions as well. We want to allow the Customer to control the order in which each Transparent Proxy network extension receives the network traffic. How can we set the order of the Transparent proxy extension that can be deployed using MDM profile with VPN/TransparentProxy payload? Attached the TransparentProxy payload profile for the reference. Local Network permission appears to be ignored after reboot, even though it was granted
We have a Java application built for macOS. On the first launch, the application prompts the user to allow local network access. We've correctly added the NSLocalNetworkUsageDescription key to the Info.plist, and the provided description appears in the system prompt. After the user grants permission, the application can successfully connect to a local server using its hostname. However, the issue arises after the system is rebooted. When the application is launched again, macOS does not prompt for local network access a second time—which is expected, as the permission was already granted. Despite this, the application is unable to connect to the local server. It appears the previously granted permission is being ignored after a reboot. A temporary workaround is to manually toggle the Local Network permission off and back on via System Settings > Privacy & Security, which restores connectivity—until the next reboot. This behavior is highly disruptive, both for us and for a significant number of our users. We can reproduce this on multiple systems... The issues started from macOS Sequoia 15.0 By opening the application bundle using "Show Package Contents," we can launch the application via "JavaAppLauncher" without any issues. Once started, the application is able to connect to our server over the local network. This seems to bypass the granted permissions? "JavaAppLauncher" is also been used in our Info.plist file

Screen time API can be disabled easily
We have developed a Parental/Self control app using Screen time API. We have used individual authentication to authorize the app, using the instructions here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/familycontrols/authorizationcenter The problem is , that individual auth can be disabled easily , by the following steps: enter Settings app. in Settings app, click on the Parental/Self control app. click to disable screen time restriction. show the device owner's face/fingerprint. (or pin code) Why is that a problem: Parental control apps, or self-control apps, are about giving control to the software, To make it hard for the user to disable the restrictions. So using the flow I have introduced above, it's super-easy for a user to disable his Parental control restrictions, which misses the entire point of Parental/Self control idea. Furthermore, not only the user have the means to unlock his screen time restrictions, he also MUST have the means to unlock it. This makes Screen time (with individual auth) useless: I have a code ready to make a great parental control app for my clients, with amazing ideas, but I can't use the Screen time API unless this problem is fixed. Why child-parent auth is not enough: My clients are grownups people between ages of 15-40, that are interested in self-control, so they don't have iCloud child accounts. also, the child-parent auth solution forces my clients to give some control to other person, and my clients prefer their privacy. Some of them prefer self-control and not parental-control. What I suggest as a solution: 1: Give more options to users how to disable the Screen time restrictions. including: a second faceID / FingerPrint (that isn't the same as the one used to unlock the device) a second pin password. a string password 2: Give the users the option to choose to not have the device's owner Face/Finger/Pincode ID , as a method to disable the Screen time restrictions.

Issue with Multicast Response via NWConnectionGroup Behind a Firewall
Hello Everyone, I’m working on a project that involves multicast communication between processes running on different devices within the same network. For all my Apple devices (macOS, iOS, etc.), I am using NWConnectionGroup, which listens on a multicast address "XX.XX.XX.XX" and a specific multicast port. The issue occurs when a requestor (such as a non-Apple process) sends a multicast request, and the server, which is a process running on an Apple device using NWConnectionGroup (the responder), attempts to reply. The problem is that the response is sent from a different ephemeral port rather than the port on which the multicast request was received. If the client is behind a firewall that blocks unsolicited traffic, the firewall only allows incoming packets on the same multicast port used for the initial request. Since the multicast response is sent from a different ephemeral port, the firewall blocks this response, preventing the requestor from receiving it. Questions: Is there a recommended approach within the NWConnectionGroup or Network.framework to ensure that responses to multicast requests are sent from the same port used for the request? Are there any best practices for handling multicast responses in scenarios where the requestor is behind a restrictive firewall? Any insights or suggestions on how to account for this behavior and ensure reliable multicast communication in such environments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Harshal

Kernel panic in mac_label_verify()
Accessing a directory on my custom distributed filesystem results in a kernel panic. According to the backtrace, the last function called before the panic is triggered is mac_label_verify(). See the backtrace file attached. mac_label_verify-panic.txt The panic manifests itself given the following conditions: Machine-a: make a directory in Finder. Machine-b: remove the directory created on machine-a in Finder. Machine-a: access the directory removed on machine-b in Finder. Kernel panic ensues. The panic is reproducible on both Apple Silicon and x86-64. The backtrace is for x86-64 as I wasn't able to symbolicate it on Apple Silicon. Not sure how to tackle this one. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Core Data transformable attribute problem in Xcode16
Hi everyone, Have anybody faced with Core Data issues, trying to migrate the project to Xcode16 beta 4? We are using transformableAttributeType in some entities, with attributeValueClassName = "[String]" and valueTransformerName = "NSSecureUnarchiveFromData". It is working just fine for years, but now I am trying to run the project from Xcode16 and have 2 issues: in Xcode logs I see warning and error: CoreData: fault: Declared Objective-C type "[String]" for attribute named alertBarChannels is not valid CoreData: Declared Objective-C type "[String]" for attribute named alertBarChannels is not valid periodically the app crashes when we are assigning value to this attribute, with error: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[__NSCFConstantString characterAtIndex:]: Range or index out of bounds' Once again, in Xcode 15 it works fine, and it was working for years. Cannot find any information about what was changed in the framework... Thank you in advance for any information, which could clarify what is going on.

iOS26 beta: AppClips are not working properly
Hi, As a company, we have several apps in the AppStore that contain AppClips. With the latest iOS18 it works without any problems. With all iOS26 betas so far, however, there is always the problem “ASDErrorDomain- Error 507” and the AppClip cannot be opened. You can easily test this by scanning the following QR code with the system camera: You only ever get this error instead of the option to open the AppClip. As the iOS26 beta phase is already at an advanced stage, we are naturally concerned as to whether the problem will be solved.

AppleScript, Do Shell. How do I write the "test" command to the "script editor"?
Hello. How to write this command correctly on a Macbook, in the script editor, so that I can click the "Run script" button and the script will give the result: if there is no folder, then report that there is no folder, if there is a folder, then report that the folder exists. do shell script "test -d 'Users/user/Desktop/New folder'" Now, if the folder exists, an empty string ("") is returned, if the folder does not exist, the script editor reports that an error has occurred. In general, my task is to write a script that checks the existence of a folder.

SwiftData unversioned migration
Hi, I'm struggling with SwiftData and the components for migration and could really use some guidance. My specific questions are Is it possible to go from an unversioned schema to a versioned schema? Do all @Model classes need to be converted? Is there one VersionedSchema for the entire app that handles all models or one VersionedSchema per model? What is the relationship, if any, between the models given to ModelContainer in a [Schema] and the models in the VersionedSchema in a [any PersistentModel.Type] I have an app in the AppStore. I use SwiftData and have four @Models defined. I was not aware of VersionedSchema when I started, so they are unversioned. I want to update the model and am trying to convert to a VersionedSchema. I've tried various things and can't even get into the migration plan yet. All posts and tutorials that I've come across only deal with one Model, and create a VersionedSchema for that model. I've tried to switch the one Model I want to update, as well as switching them all. Of course I get different errors depending on what configuration I try. It seems like I should have one VersionedSchema for the app since there is the static var models: [any PersistentModel.Type] property. Yet the tutorials I've seen create a TypeNameSchemaV1 to go with the @Model TypeName. Which is correct? An AppNameSchemaV1 which defines four models, or four TypeNameSchemaV1? Any help will be much appreciated

iOS 26.2 RC DeviceActivityMonitor.eventDidReachThreshold regression?
Hi there, Starting with iOS 26.2 RC, all my DeviceActivityMonitor.eventDidReachThreshold get activated immediately as I pick up my iPhone for the first time, two nights in a row. Feedback: FB21267341 There's always a chance something odd is happening to my device in particular (although I can't recall making any changes here and the debug logs point to the issue), but just getting this out there ASAP in case others are seeing this (or haven't tried!), and it's critical as this is the RC. DeviceActivityMonitor.eventDidReachThreshold issues also mentioned here: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/793747; but I believe they are different and were potentially fixed in iOS 26.1, but it points to this part of the technology having issues and maybe someone from Apple has been tweaking it.

[Xcode 26 beta 4] Cannot receive device token from APNS using iOS 26 simulator
Since upgrading to Xcode 26 beta 4 and using the iOS 26 simulator for testing our app, we've stopped being able to receive device tokens for the simulator from the development APNS environment. The APNS environment is able to return meta device information (e.g. model, type, manufacturer) but there are no device tokens present. When running the same app using the iOS 18.5 simulator, we are able to register the device with the same APNS environment and receive a valid device token.
